Climate – temperate continental influenced by the Black Sea in the East and by the Mediterranean in the South. Long summer and winter seasons – in the summer swimming in the sea is possible from May to October while the ski season lasts from January to May.
Water resources – rivers (main: the Danube, Maritsa, Mesta, Struma, Iskar, Yantra), hot and cold mineral springs (more than 600), lakes – coastal (some with healing mineral mud) and glacial (in the Rila and Pirin mountains).
